Tony Wright - The Fall from the Brain of Eden

Sep 13, 2013 by Martin Higgins

Tony Wright is a consciousness theorist who believes mankind is currently in the thrall of its own dangerously unbalanced brain, whose development peaked long ago in a golden age spent in fruit symbiosis in the tropics.

Drawing on mainstream scientific data, he claims the evidence is overwhelming and calls for urgent research.

He points to neurochemical analogues which provide brief glimpses of the kind of consciousness we’ve lost, and suggests a three pronged approach to improve neural functioning.

He is the author of Left in the Dark, a book that is set for relaunch in 2014 as Return to the Brain of Eden. For further details see http://leftinthedark.org.uk and http://beyond-belief.org.uk.

Giulio Prisco - Transhumanist Spirituality: A New Religion for the Modern Age

Sep 3, 2013 by Martin Higgins

Giulio Prisco is a physicist and computer scientist, and formerly a senior manager in the European Space Agency.

He is a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies and one of the most influential voices in the transhumanist movement.

In both his 2004 essay Engineering Transcendence and his subsequent writing, he has probed the connections between transhumanism and spirituality, proposing an uncompromising and visionary “third way” philosophy that combines the aims of religion with the means of science.
